I’ve worked on a wide array of projects related to the history of the built environment during my tenure in the libraries/archives and historic preservation fields.

City Archiving

Inventorying and archiving the City of Indianapolis-Department of Metropolitan Development materials, as well as handling reference/research requests related to staff projects, department initiatives, and legacy properties. Read more about my work in this National Trust blog.

White River Plan

Read about the White River Vision Plan and the historic waterway research I did on 58 miles of the river within Marion and Hamilton Counties in blogs here. I facilitated seven community conversations and still do public programs on the topic on behalf of the WRVP.

Housing Exhibit

Examine historic and contemporary causes of housing sales and lending discrimination with my exhibit, "Unwelcomed: A Fair Housing History of Sales & Lending Discrimination," I did on behalf of the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana. The exhibit has been traveling since April 2022.

City Bicentennial

Learn more about the Indianapolis Bicentennial, including historic content I developed for the City of Indianapolis' Indy Turns 200 website and my feature in WISH-TV's bicentennial special program. In addition, I co-wrote an essay for BELT's The Indianapolis Anthology text on Indiana Avenue architecture and entertainment, available for pre-order.

Redlining Context

Learn more about redlining in my Encyclopedia of Indianapolis Feature Story Article and the Living the Legacy: Indianapolis Redlining, a program series to kick off the Indianapolis Bicentennial exhibit. Indiana Humanities awarded me a research fellowship to continue this scholarship in 2021 with the Wilma Gibbs Moore racial injustice and structural racism fellowship.

Thesis

Read my thesis ““How Others Have Built”: A Sketch of Indianapolis Construction and Demolition Patterns” that catalogs the Home Builder’s articles featured in the Indianapolis Star between 1909-1926. This data-centric project heavily relied on ArcGIS to catalog demolition factors and offers trends on local demolition patterns.
