May is Preservation Month

Happy Preservation Month! Here’s a quick update on recent things related to Historic Preservation.

An exhibit I curated at the end of 2020, Lost Landmarks of Indianapolis, is currently on display at the Avon-Washington Township Public Library. This is a traveling exhibit meant to be on display throughout the county. You have until May 31st to check it out at the library branch - please note the library will be closed May 29th & 30th. The National Trust for Historic Preservation interviewed me, along with 5 incredible past recipients of the Aspire Emerging Preservation Leader award, on what we've learned, relearned, & unlearned over the last few years in regards to the field. And of course, I gushed over my love of the Indiana Medical History Museum. As an occasional contributor to the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s website and the 2021 Aspire Award winner, my editor at the Trust let me write about anything I wanted to to kick off Preservation Month. I decided to write about one of my most exciting long-term projects, archiving for the Department of Metropolitan Development. Read that blog here.

And lastly, I have been experiencing writer’s block for the first time in years! I decided to get away in the hills of French Lick for a few days to get back into my writing groove. But of course I had to do a little bit of exploring…
